Tyresöhallen

Tyresöhallen does not sit on the edge of a town but within it, tucked into the Nyboda area alongside Nyboda school. Unlike the open-air football grounds used by Tyresö FF, this is an indoor facility built for controlled environments. It is not a place for wind or rain to dictate play; it is a space where the game happens regardless of the weather outside.

The hall holds 800 spectators, a number that suggests intimacy rather than spectacle. You are close enough to hear the squeak of trainers on the synthetic floor. The surface itself is not natural turf but a high-quality synthetic sports flooring. This attention to detail matters when women’s elite handball teams like Tyresö HK come here to train and compete. They do not travel far to play, and they do not expect grandstands.

It is also home to Tyresö Trollbäcken IBK, a women’s floorball side that plays in the Allsvenskan top tier. The club celebrated its 20th anniversary here, not with a parade, but with a gathering within the same walls where they practise every week. The venue has seen local cup football action too, hosting group stages for the ATG Svenska Cupen.

There is no record of when the doors first opened. Some might find that missing, but for a community hall in a suburb of Stockholm, the date is less important than the routine. Minor updates have kept things running—new benches for floorball, perhaps—but nothing structural was needed. It is not a temple of sport. It is simply where the ball is played in Tyresö when the pitch is frozen or wet.

The address is Pluggvägen 2. If you walk past, you might see a bus stop or a school gate. Inside, the game is played on a hard court.
