Whitebank Stadium

Its character comes from its multi-purpose nature. It is not a single-club fortress but a shared facility within the Limeside complex. The most visible change was the pitch itself: a flat, uniform surface that replaced the old slope, laid down to meet the standards of the Rugby Football League (RFL). This surface dictates the rhythm of the games played here, giving them a different bounce and speed than the natural grass pitches found in the city centre. The floodlights stand tall and thin against the horizon, casting long shadows over the empty fields when there is no action.

When the tenants play, the ground fills quickly. The seating is sparse, mostly concentrated in the covered stand, while the rest of the crowd stands on the terraces or in the open areas behind the goal. The atmosphere is intimate; there is no barrier to hide the roar of the crowd, and the sound travels straight out over the parking lot. The history here is layered. The stadium reopened in 2010 with seats salvaged from elsewhere, and the timber used in the rebuild came from the new Wembley, but the spirit of the place is local. It is a working ground, cracked in places and patched up where necessary, where the club and the community share the same mud and the same weather.
