Extraliga (Belarus) 2026/27

The Belarusian Extraleague sits at the apex of the national hockey pyramid. Organized by the Belarusian Ice Hockey Federation (BIHF), it operates as a closed system without formal promotion or relegation to the second-tier Vysshaya Liga. This structure provides stability for clubs such as Baranavichy, Brest, Gomel, Lida, Lokomotiv Orsha and Mogilev, who compete in the top flight. The regular season employs a round-robin format where each side plays every opponent four times, resulting in 52 games per team. Post-season play features a distinctive "play-in" round for eighth-ranked sides, with the top four advancing directly to the quarterfinals. Quarterfinals, semifinals and the final proceed in a best-of-seven series to determine the champion.

Yunost Minsk holds the record for success in the competition, having claimed the title eleven times. Metallurg Zhlobin vindicates its recent dominance by winning the 2025–26 championship, securing the President's Cup. HC Neman Grodno stands next in line with seven victories. The league maintains an "Open Championship" status, allowing foreign participation. In recent seasons, Russian club Slavutich Smolensk has joined the field alongside Belarusian entrants. The competition serves as a critical developmental pipeline for the national team and the Kontinental Hockey League side Dinamo Minsk. The governing body oversees the calendar from the league's inception in 1992, when the first season was played. The official online presence is hosted at hockey.by.
