Match report

Al-Fujairah opened their Division 1 campaign with a comprehensive victory over Al-Jazira Al-Hamra, winning 6-0 in Regular Season round one on Saturday. The hosts made no mistake in front of their own supporters, converting pressure into goals throughout the match. It was a statement result that left the visitors with work to do.

The opening goal arrived in the 43rd minute when Rangel found the net, giving Al-Fujairah the lead just before half-time. By then, the visitors had already shown signs of unease, but the break extended their deficit when W. Falah struck in the 45th minute plus four. Two first-half goals set the tone for what followed.

And here's the thing — Al-Fujairah did not slow down after the interval. Samuel Rosa doubled his side's advantage in the 77th minute, and S. Benbachir added another in the 79th. The visitors paid for a sloppy opening, and Benbachir completed his brace before the final whistle with a goal in the 90th minute plus 19 seconds. A. Anwar also scored in stoppage time to make it six.

The statistics told the story of a one-sided encounter. Al-Fujairah held 62 per cent possession and registered nine shots on target compared to just two for the visitors. To be fair, Al-Jazira Al-Hamra did manage three shots off target, but they struggled to create clear opportunities. The visitors conceded ten free kicks and won only two corners.

Al-Fujairah sit sixth in the table with two points from two games, having won one and lost one. Al-Jazira Al-Hamra remain in 12th place with one point from two matches after one draw and one defeat. The gap between them is already visible on the standings, and this result only widens it.

The visitors will have remembered their previous meeting with Al-Fujairah, a 3-1 win in May, but this time the outcome was very different. They had beaten Al-Fujairah before, but the hosts have now repaid that defeat in full. The season is young, but the message has been sent.
