Zvolen booked a comfortable victory over Brezno in the Cup's Round of 64 on Tuesday evening, running out 4-0 winners at the home ground. The visitors had already taken control before half-time and never looked back, leaving Brezno with nothing to show for their efforts. The result sends Zvolen into the next stage while Brezno's cup campaign comes to an early end.
Zvolen struck just before the break when a goal went in at 45+3 minutes, giving them the lead they would not relinquish. The second came shortly after the restart, with another strike landing at 55 minutes to put the visitors two up. A third goal at 76 minutes killed off any remaining hope Brezno might have had of mounting a comeback.
The statistics tell the story clearly enough. Zvolen enjoyed 59 per cent possession and registered 136 attacks compared to Brezno's 73. They also registered eight shots on target against five off target, while Brezno managed only five shots off target and none on target. The visitors earned eight corners to the hosts' zero, and it showed in the way they controlled the game.
The gap in the numbers was not surprising given the scoreline. Brezno had zero shots on target all evening, which meant any chances they created went begging. Zvolen, meanwhile, converted their dominance into goals and could have added to the tally given the number of opportunities they generated.
The result leaves Zvolen with an 11-point cushion in the group and Brezno sitting in fourth place with zero games and zero points. The table says nothing yet for either side, but the difference in quality was evident on the pitch. Zvolen will be pleased with the performance and Brezno have work to do before their next fixture.
