The match itself offered little in the way of clear chances. Neither side could break through the opposition's defence. The game settled into a pattern neither team could disrupt. It was a tactical stalemate, or perhaps simply a case of both sides playing not to lose.
The result keeps the tie alive for Kelantan Red Warriors, even if it feels like a consolation. They had already lost the psychological battle on 29 August. To avoid another defeat was something, but a draw does not restore confidence.
Kuching City will take little satisfaction from holding a team they had thrashed five days prior. They had looked comfortable in their earlier victory. This time, they could not find the same rhythm. The goal difference matters less when the match itself says nothing about quality.
Both teams now face the next round without a decisive advantage. Kelantan Red Warriors have extended their recent struggles. Kuching City have shown they are not as dominant as their previous results suggested. The tie remains open, but neither side has proven anything.
