Michigan State Spartans — Northern Michigan Wildcats: 6:2, NCAA

Michigan State Spartans 6:2 Northern Michigan Wildcats

Michigan State Spartans defeated Northern Michigan Wildcats 6:2 in an NCAA contest on Friday evening. The match took place at the Spartans' home arena with kickoff scheduled for 23:30 local time. It was a comprehensive victory for the hosts who dominated the scoreboard throughout.

Both sides carried different trajectories into this fixture. The Spartans sat fifth in the standings with 32 games played, recording 15 wins and 15 draws alongside just two defeats. The Wildcats, meanwhile, were sixth after 28 matches with 13 victories and 15 draws, having not lost a single game yet this season.

We had called for a home victory with 71 per cent confidence before the match. That prediction materialised as the Spartans outclassed their opponents from the opening period. The visitors, despite their unbeaten record, simply could not contain the home attack.

The result tightens the gap between fifth and sixth place, though both teams remain level on points in the current table. Northern Michigan's winless run continues, while Michigan State adds another victory to their tally. The Spartans pulled the strings in a match where the scoreboard told the full story.

Recent form offered mixed signals for both sides. The Spartans had been inconsistent, dropping points against Wisconsin and Ohio State, but bounced back with a 2:1 win over Connecticut. The Wildcats showed resilience with a 3:0 victory against Miami on Tuesday, but that was followed by a heavy 1:4 defeat three days later.
