Mountfield HK — Vítkovice: 3:2, Extraliga

Mountfield took three points from Vitkovice on Sunday evening, winning 3:2 in the Extraliga. The match finished at 15:00 local time and the result keeps the hosts moving forward while the visitors continue to struggle for consistency.

We had called for a home victory with 55 per cent confidence before kickoff, and that assessment held up. The argument was straightforward: Mountfield showed enough resilience in their last five games to handle a side still finding its feet away from home.

The recent form tells the story. Mountfield lost just once in their previous five outings, including a 4:3 win over Kladno on Thursday and a 4:3 victory against Sparta Prague. Vitkovice, by contrast, have won two of six and suffered a heavy 2:8 defeat to Trinec earlier in the month.

At this stage the table doesn't carry much weight. Mountfield sit fourth with seven games played and four wins, while Vitkovice occupy twelfth place after six matches. Neither side has accumulated points yet, so the standings are more about trajectory than achievement.
