Nitra — Kosice: 1:2, Extraliga

Nitra hosted Košice on Friday evening and came away with a 1:2 defeat in the Extraliga. The result leaves both sides level on points after two games each, though the visitors sit higher in the table.

Košice remain on top of the standings with two wins from two outings, while Nitra have yet to find the scoreboard in their opening fixtures. The gap between them is negligible on paper, but Košice's form gives them the edge.

We had backed the home side at 53 per cent confidence, but the match went the other way. Nitra started brightly enough, but Košice's composure in the final period turned the game.

The visitors have won both of their opening matches, including a comfortable 4:1 victory over Prešov last weekend. Nitra, meanwhile, have lost both games so far and are yet to register a point.

The result keeps Košice at the summit and puts additional pressure on Nitra to find their rhythm. Three points would have shifted the balance, but the visitors held firm when it mattered.
