Traktor Chelyabinsk have re-signed free agent Nikita Soshnikov through 2026/27, despite a lukewarm trial and mixed reviews from the GM.
Tractor Chelyabinsk have signed Forward Nikita Soshnikov, 32, to a contract running to the end of the 2026/27 season, the club confirmed on its Telegram channel.
Soshnikov arrives as a free agent. Admiral released him by mutual agreement in August, and Tractor had already taken him on for a trial earlier that month.
The trial did not go well, by all accounts. General manager Alexei Volkov summed it up bluntly at the time: "I didn't like his performance. You expect more from an experienced player."
Tractor signed him anyway. According to Sila Sporta, the deal is worth 25 million roubles.
Soshnikov's numbers last season were modest: 13 points (5+8) in 31 games for Admiral, part of a combined 24 points in 51 KHL games split between Admiral and Sibir. Across his KHL career he has 252 points (111+141) from 466 matches.
He has worn the Tractor jersey before, from 2022 to 2024, and has also turned out for Atlant, Salavat Yulaev, CSKA, Avangard and Sibir. In the NHL he played for Toronto, St. Louis and the Islanders, managing 16 points (8+8) in 90 games.
