Sergei Mozyakin has stepped down as director of development at Metallurg Magnitogorsk, the KHL club has announced. The 45-year-old had held the post since August 2022. Andrei Shayanov takes over as director of development at the club's academy.
"Sergei Valeryevich's name is forever written in golden letters in the history of the club. We are not saying goodbye, and we remain in touch with our legend. We will always wait for you at Metallurg's matches, Sergei Valeryevich, and thank you for everything," the club said in a statement.
He won the Gagarin Cup twice with Metallurg as a player, in 2014 and 2016, and once more as an assistant coach, in 2024. He is a 2018 Olympic champion and a two-time world champion, in 2008 and 2009.
Metallurg open the new KHL season on 6 September against Amur Khabarovsk.
