Tolchinsky on Playing With Tkachev at Metallurg
Metallurg forward Sergei Tolchinsky says he and Vladimir Tkachev rarely share a line but could combine successfully with more ice time together.
Sergei Tolchinsky has brushed off speculation about a Tkachev line at Metallurg, saying the pair have rarely been paired together and see no reason to force the issue.
Speculation peaked after they were seen together at Avangard, including a game last season against Amur where they scored twice. Tolchinsky said head coach Andrei Razin has not been asked to try the combination, though it has come up occasionally as a rotation option.
Tkachev’s regular line at Metallurg is set, making a switch hard to justify once his own line also began scoring freely.
Asked whether two players who both like to carry the puck might struggle to share it, Tolchinsky said the issue is solvable with time and understanding on the ice, and that he does not see it becoming a real problem between them.
