Isakov Explains Sokolov's Torpedo Exit
Torpedo coach Alexei Isakov denied fatigue caused the 0:3 loss to CSKA and said the decision to part with Yegor Sokolov was made over time, not overnight.
The loss to CSKA was Torpedo's third away fixture of the campaign. Sakov played down suggestions that fatigue was behind the result, pointing instead to the physical, attritional nature of matches against CSKA. Torpedo, he said, had created chances but failed to convert them.
Sokolov joined the club over the summer. By Sakov's account, effort was never the issue; Sokolov’s exit was the club’s doing, based on a long-term assessment of its needs, the result of months of deliberation, not a snap decision.
