Myshkin: No Need to Panic Over CSKA's Slow Start
Former USSR goalkeeper Vladimir Myshkin says it's too early to judge CSKA and Dynamo, praising Igor Nikitin as a top-level coach amid the club's early season struggles.
Asked whether CSKA's start amounted to a sensation, Myshkin said he saw no reason for firm conclusions after a single week of the championship, and suggested a return to the question after 10-15 matches. He said he knew Igor Nikitin well from their time working together with the national side, and called him a top-level coach in the classic mould of the domestic coaching school.
On CSKA's goalkeeping situation, unlike Dynamo's, Myshkin declined to sound any alarm, pointing to a run of difficult opponents and tight matches, and to spells of good play including on the power-play.
Myshkin's own background is in goal, which lends particular weight to his reading of a side's form beyond results alone.
