Spartak beat Traktor for fifth straight KHL win
Daniil Orlov, Daniil Gutik and Danil Pivchulin scored as Spartak won 3-1 at Traktor to move top of the KHL Western Conference on 10 points.
Spartak won 3-1 away at Traktor in Chelyabinsk on 18 September, a fifth straight victory that puts the Moscow side top of the KHL's Western Conference.
Daniil Orlov opened the scoring on the 16th minute, his goal extending a personal scoring streak to five matches. Over that run the defenceman has 6 points (1+5). Daniil Gutik made it 2-0 on the 53rd minute before Nathan Legare pulled one back for Traktor on the 46th. Danil Pivchulin sealed it into an empty net on the 60th.
Spartak, coached by Alexei Zhamnov, have 10 points from six games. Reigning Gagarin Cup holders Lokomotiv Yaroslavl sit second with a game in hand, and SKA St. Petersburg are third — both also on 10 points.
Traktor are bottom of the Eastern Conference on 2 points from five matches.
Elsewhere on the night, Metallurg Magnitogorsk beat Barys Astana 3-0, and Salavat Yulaev Ufa beat Neftekhimik Nizhnekamsk 2-0. Salavat Yulaev's win came despite the Ufa-Arena hosts having taken no points from their first four matches of the campaign.
Spartak are back in action on 20 September against Salavat Yulaev.
