Severstal coach Kozyriev hails team progress after 5:2 win

Andrei Kozyriev, head coach of Severstal, said his team showed good hockey in the 5:2 win over Avtomobilist. He noted the side was still being built and that the result was a step forward.

“We showed good hockey. We have a new team, only just getting started. We are moving forward steadily,” Kozyriev said.

He also described the victory as a hard-earned one, won through collective play. The coach said the players combined well and focused on the result in the closing stages of the match.

When asked if this resembled the vision he had for the summer, Kozyriev said they are still working on it. He repeated that the squad is new and only just assembling.

Severstal’s win puts them on the board in a tight season. The coach’s words suggest patience is required as the roster takes shape.
