Larionov Credits Talk With Glotov for SKA Win

SKA beat Barys 5:3 on Sunday, and Vasili Glotov scored twice. Head coach Igor Larionov said the improvement followed a private conversation with the forward the day before the game.

Larionov said the two spoke for around 40 minutes. Some of what passed between them, he said, should stay between them, but the theme was straightforward: the game gets easier when a player does the right things without constantly thinking about the result.

Barys also had three goals from a settled young line — Vsevolod Logvin, Semyon Simonov and Kirill Lyapunov — who have featured together for a second straight season. Larionov, who has three Stanley Cup wins from his NHL career, said it is important to trust young players coming through, since Kazakhstan's national team gives them a route to senior international hockey.
