Tampa Bay have placed defenceman Maksim Groshev on waivers, with the intention of assigning him to Syracuse of the AHL. Any other NHL club can claim the 24-year-old within 24 hours.
Groshev signed a two-year extension with Tampa Bay on 19 May, carrying a cap hit of $875,000. This season he has featured twice for the Lightning, picking up one assist.
He has played 62 games including play-offs and scored 22 points, on three goals and 19 assists.
If he clears waivers, Groshev heads back to Syracuse for now, with a recall still open to Tampa Bay later in the season.
