Bernardo Piexoto Couto

Benny Couto left Portugal for England as a boy and did his growing up in the Oldham Athletic academy, working through the ranks before making his senior bow for the club in an EFL Trophy tie in August 2021. He made 28 league appearances and scored once, all while a pair of loan spells took him elsewhere to sharpen his game: a short stint at The New Saints in the Cymru Premier, and a longer one at Ashton United in the National League, where he found the net three times in 31 league outings.

That form at Ashton United persuaded the club to sign him permanently in the summer of 2024, and he went on to add a further league goal in his first season there. He then joined Waterford in December 2025, scoring one goal in his league appearances for the club through the middle of 2026.

None of his moves between clubs have come with a publicly disclosed fee. Having left Portugal early in his career, Couto has not represented the senior national side.
