Berkay Sülüngöz

Berkay Sülüngöz built his game in Switzerland long before Turkish football entered the picture. He joined FC Solothurn's youth setup in 2001 and stayed through the club's system for over a decade, moving into the first team in 2013 and playing 47 matches over two seasons.

The bigger break came in 2015, when Basel took him into their academy. He never played for the senior side, but he was on the books during a title-winning campaign in 2015/16 and a Swiss Cup win the following season. Regular football came instead at Rapperswil-Jona, then at Vaduz in Liechtenstein, where over two seasons he added six goals from the back and, in 2018/19, won the Liechtenstein Cup.

His move to Turkey began at Altay Izmir in October 2020. A spell without a club followed after leaving Altay, before he signed for Eyüpspor at the start of 2022. He barely settled there: within weeks he went out on loan to Pendikspor, then leading the Turkish second division. He played 12 matches and scored once in that stretch.

Since then, Pendikspor has been his club. Sülüngöz has worn the number 5 shirt, and by June 2024 he had made 45 appearances and scored three goals in Pendik colours. In January 2026, he spoke publicly about having struggled with fitness and injuries earlier in the season, saying he felt back to full condition heading into the winter break.
