Chao He

He Chao's path into professional football ran through Portugal. In December 2011, as part of the Chinese Football Association's "500.com Stars Project," the youth product of Changchun Yatai was sent to train at Casa Pia's academy, staying there until 2013 before returning to make his professional debut for Changchun Yatai in April 2014 against Shanghai East Asia.

He stayed with Changchun Yatai until 2018, then moved to Guangzhou FC in February 2019, spending part of that season on loan at Jiangsu Suning. He won the Chinese Super League title with Guangzhou that year. When his contract expired at the end of 2021, he joined Wuhan Three Towns as a free agent, and in his very first season there helped the club to their maiden Chinese Super League title in 2022. He added the Chinese FA Super Cup with Wuhan in 2023, and scored in the AFC Champions League during the 2023–24 campaign. His contract with Wuhan ran out at the end of 2024, and he signed with Henan FC as a free agent in January 2025.

At international level, He Chao made his debut for China on 9 December 2017 in a 2–2 draw against South Korea at the EAFF E-1 Football Championship, a tournament in which China took the bronze medal. He has earned seven caps without finding the net for the national side.

Across his club career he has made over 200 appearances in the Chinese Super League.
