Christopher Martins

March 2025 was Christopher Martins's best month in a red-and-white shirt: four goals in five matches, and the Winline Player of the Month award to go with them. By early 2026 he stood among the leading foreign scorers in Spartak Moscow's history.

He came into the game at Rodange 91 and moved on to the youth setup at Racing Union Luxembourg, where he made his professional debut in 2013. That same year Olympique Lyonnais took him on a free transfer into their academy. The route to Lyon's first team never quite opened: two Ligue 1 appearances in 2017–18, then two seasons on loan in Ligue 2 — 17 matches at Bourg-en-Bresse 01, then 30 at Troyes.

Switzerland changed things. BSC Young Boys paid around €2m for him in July 2019 and he became a fixture: 48 league appearances, four goals, the Swiss Super League title in 2019–20 and again in 2020–21, and the Swiss Cup in 2020.

Spartak took him on loan in January 2022 — ten league appearances, one goal — and won the Russian Cup that season. In July the club exercised its option to buy, at a fee reported around €6.4m. He signed until 2026, and the deal was later extended to 30 June 2028.

For Luxembourg he debuted on 8 September 2014, having come through the U17, U19 and U21 sides. His one senior international goal arrived four years to the day after that debut, against Moldova in the UEFA Nations League. He has since passed 77 caps.
