About the player
Damien Loppy's route to Liga Portugal 2 ran through the lower tiers of French football. Born in Gwédiawaye in Senegal and holding French citizenship, he came through Le Havre's youth ranks before dropping into amateur and semi-professional football, spells at ESM Gonfreville, Le Havre AC B and FC Rouen. He returned to FC Rouen for a second stint in early 2023.
Vizela signed him on a free transfer in July 2024, handing the midfielder a contract to 2027. Starting 30 league matches in his first season, he contributed a goal and five assists as the club competed in Liga Portugal 2. He has kept that level up since, again reaching around 30 appearances the following season with a further goal and several assists.
