About the player
Francisco Machado came through the academies of Portugal's two biggest clubs before settling into first-team football on the country's second tier. He started out at Sporting , moved on to Benfica 's youth ranks, and eventually joined Académico de Viseu , where his path finally led to senior minutes.
The breakthrough came with Viseu's Under-23 side. In the 2025/2026 season, Machado was part of the squad that won the Liga Revelação, Portugal's national Under-23 championship. He made his senior debut for Académico de Viseu's first team the previous season, 2024/2025.
Machado left Viseu for Lusitânia Lourosa in the summer of 2026, a club then playing in Liga Portugal 2.
Machado has also been capped by Portugal at youth level.
