About the player

Gerson Rodrigues was born in Pragal, Portugal, but built his career under the flag of Luxembourg, the country he represents at international level. He is the national team's all-time top scorer, with 23 goals in 72 caps, and he became the first Luxembourgish player to appear in a UEFA Champions League group stage.

He joined SC Telstar in the Netherlands in 2017. A switch to FC Sheriff Tiraspol followed in January 2018, where he scored 8 goals in 22 appearances and won the Moldovan National Division title. After a spell at Júbilo Iwata in Japan, he signed a five-year contract with FC Dynamo Kyiv in August 2019, going on to win the Ukrainian Premier League, the Ukrainian Cup and two Ukrainian Super Cups with the club.

His time at Dynamo was interrupted by a long string of loans: MKE Ankaragücü, ES Troyes AC, Eyüpspor, Al-Wehda, Sivasspor, ŠK Slovan Bratislava, Guangxi Pingguo Haliao and AVS Futebol SAD. The Ankaragücü loan ended early after a fight with a teammate, while his stint in China led to a FIFA case against Guangxi over unpaid wages, which he won, recovering €304,622. He left Dynamo in 2025 for Kanchanaburi Power FC, a contract that was terminated in April 2026, before he signed with FK Vardar Skopje on a free transfer that June, taking the number 7 shirt.

In August 2025 he was suspended indefinitely from the Luxembourg national team after being convicted of domestic violence and bodily harm.
