About the player
Giannis Masouras has built a career on the road rather than at a single home ground. Since leaving Olympiacos in January 2023, the Patras-born right-back has moved through six clubs in three countries inside little more than two years.
His early progress was steadier. Masouras came through at Panachaiki before a move to AEL in 2015, and in 2016 he was named the Football League Greece Young Player of the Year. That form persuaded Olympiacos to sign him from AEL in 2018 for a reported fee of around €1 million.
The loan spells abroad gave him regular football without settling him anywhere for long: 23 league appearances in Poland with Górnik Zabrze in 2020-21, then 18 more in the Netherlands with Sparta Rotterdam the following season. Since his Olympiacos contract ended, the moves have continued in quick succession — Miedź Legnica, Kifisia, FC Astana in Kazakhstan, and now Omonia Nicosia, where he wears the number 21 shirt.
At international level, Masouras has stayed at youth level, earning three caps for the Greece under-21 side in 2018 without scoring.
