Ivan Schranz

Ivan Schranz arrived at Slavia Praha in July 2021 on a free transfer. He came through Inter Bratislava's youth ranks and the Jozef Vengloš Academy before breaking into senior football. Spartak Trnava, a loan spell at Sparta Praha, Dukla Praha, AEL Limassol, Dynamo České Budějovice and Jablonec all preceded his move to Slavia. Since joining, he has won the Czech Cup and two Czech First League titles with the club.

His international career has followed a similar arc of a slow build followed by a sudden peak. Schranz made his senior debut for Slovakia in September 2020 against the Czech Republic and scored on that first appearance. He was named in the squad for UEFA Euro 2020 but did not feature. Euro 2024 was a different story: he started as a key forward and finished as the tournament's joint top scorer with three goals. He struck early against Belgium to give Slovakia a 1–0 win, scored again in the win over Ukraine, and found the net once more against England in the Round of 16, though Slovakia were eventually beaten after extra time.

At club level, the goal-scoring instinct that defined his Euros run has translated into silverware at Slavia Praha.
