Jason Meerstadt

Jason Meerstadt spent most of his development in Rotterdam, working through Sparta Rotterdam's academy after arriving there in 2011 by way of youth spells at HSV DUNO, Feyenoord and Haaglandia. He signed his first professional contract with Sparta in January 2018 and had it extended in 2021, but his path to the first team ran through Jong Sparta in the Tweede Divisie before he finally made his Eredivisie debut on 22 April 2022.

The breakthrough at senior level came away from Rotterdam. Released by Sparta on a free transfer in August 2023, Meerstadt joined K.v.v. Quick Boys and turned into one of the side's key players. The move paid off in the 2024/25 season, when Quick Boys won the Tweede Divisie title and Meerstadt became Dutch Amateur Champion for the first time in 21 years. It was a spell played in front of some of the biggest amateur crowds in the country, with the club recording the highest average attendance in the Tweede Divisie for seven seasons running.

That form led to a return to professional football in June 2025, when Meerstadt signed for De Graafschap; the fee involved was not disclosed. Sources close to the club and to Haaglanden Voetbal describe him simply as a "Hagenaar", underlining his roots in The Hague even where his exact birthplace is not spelled out. He has yet to add senior international caps or individual honours to his record, with the Tweede Divisie title remaining the standout achievement of his career so far.
