About the player

Kevin Martinez did not start out as a goalkeeper. As a boy playing Baby Fútbol in Montevideo he played outfield, and it was only after joining Danubio's youth ranks that he settled between the posts, working under goalkeeper coach Goicochea. That shift shaped the rest of his development: he moved up through the club's age groups and, in early 2023, into the Danubio U20 side.

A year later, in February 2024, Martinez was promoted to the first team — an academy graduate through and through, with no transfer ever taking him away from or bringing him back to Danubio.

Internationally, Martinez has represented Uruguay at youth level, being called up to the Uruguay U20 side. He has made 11 appearances for that team, including seven at the 2025 Campeonato Sudamericano Sub-20, and further outings in friendlies in 2024 and 2025. He has also featured for Uruguay U20 at the L'Alcudia tournament.
