About the player
Kertanov's career has followed the well-worn route through Russia's lower divisions. He came through the youth system at Beslan before moves to Dynamo Kostroma and then Krylya Sovetov Samara, where he made his professional debut in December 2012 and marked it with a goal against Amkar. A free transfer took him to Kuban Krasnodar the following summer, though he stayed with the reserve squad there rather than breaking into the first team.
Torpedo Moscow signed him on a free transfer. He grew from the youth ranks into a key player, first in the Second League and then the First League. He won the PFL Zone "Center" title with Torpedo in 2018/19, securing promotion, and a chip over the goalkeeper against Khimki that year stood out among his goals.
Since leaving Torpedo in 2021, Kertanov has moved more frequently: a spell at Veles Moscow, a second stint at Kuban Krasnodar, and then a free transfer to FC Chelyabinsk in July 2024 on a contract running to 2027. His first season there brought 36 appearances and two goals in Division A of the Second League, contributing to the club's promotion to the First League.
