Marvin Young

Marvin Young's career has unfolded entirely inside one building. He arrived at the Sparta Rotterdam academy in 2015, aged nine, having started out at SV Jong Ambon, and worked his way through every youth level before spending the 2023–2024 season with Jong Sparta in the Tweede Divisie, where he made 24 appearances at the back. In June 2024 he signed his first professional contract and was promoted to the senior squad, though some records have also listed him as a midfielder.

His breakthrough season came quickly. In March 2025 Young was named Eredivisie Talent of the Month, receiving the Johan Cruyff Talent Award for his passing accuracy and dominance in the air, and was included in the Eredivisie Team of the Month for the same period. The award carried a €2,500 donation to SV Jong Ambon, the club where he first played as a boy.

Young, who is right-footed and wears the number 3 shirt at Sparta Rotterdam, has also represented the Netherlands at youth level, playing for the under-18s before earning a cap for the under-21 side. He has not yet featured for the senior national team. Domestically, he has not won a major trophy with Sparta Rotterdam, and his career to date has shown no transfer away from the club.
