Mouhamed Gueye

Mouhamed Gueye left Senegal for Europe on the back of a title with the national under-20 side, having helped them win the Africa U-20 Cup of Nations in 2023 before adding a World Cup appearance at the same age group. The move to Rapid Wien's second team that August turned into steady progress rather than a quick breakthrough: over roughly a season and a half in Austria he scored four goals in around 25 matches and picked up a Regionalliga East title with the club in 2023/24.

Kortrijk brought him into Belgian football in January 2025, though first-team minutes stayed limited — five appearances in the Jupiler Pro League that season, then eight in the Challenger Pro League the following year, with one goal to show for it. A short spell out with a calf issue during his time in Vienna aside, the disruptions were minor.

The switch to HJK Helsinki in July 2026, again for a fee in the region of €50,000, has produced an immediate impact: four league appearances with a goal in the Veikkausliiga, and a goal in three UEFA Conference League outings. Gueye has yet to add a senior cap for Senegal, though his form at youth level had already put him on the radar for a possible call-up.
