About the player
Rodrigo Borges came through Benfica's academy, at Merelinense in the Campeonato de Portugal. Braga signed him for their B side for a fee of around €50,000, and he spent four seasons there before a free transfer took him to Oliveirense and then, within months, on to União Torreense.
The move that shaped his career came in January 2024, when Marítimo signed him on a free transfer. He split that season between Torreense and the Madeira club, scoring three goals in 15 appearances for Marítimo in Liga Portugal 2 and helping the side win the division title and secure promotion to the top flight.
In the 2024/25 season, his first in the Portuguese top flight with Marítimo, Borges made 22 appearances and added three more goals. He left the club in July 2026, joining SC Farense on a free one-year deal with a renewal option, taking the number 5 shirt.
Borges was called up to Portugal's U17 side, though he did not add senior caps to that.
