Sem Dekkers

Sem Dekkers came through the youth system at his hometown club, HSV Heiloo, before AZ Alkmaar took him into its academy. He spent his teenage years there and closed out the 2021/22 season in style, winning the Dutch Under-18 national championship and the KNVB Youth Cup with AZ's Under-18 side. That campaign also brought him into the Dutch youth international set-up, with caps at Under-15, Under-18 and Under-19 level.

Dekkers moved up to Jong AZ in 2022 and made his debut for the Eerste Divisie side that August. He was registered with the AZ Alkmaar first team but never made a senior league appearance for the club. His path to regular first-team football instead ran through a loan: in February 2025 he joined Helmond Sport for the remainder of the season and made seven Eerste Divisie appearances, adding an assist along the way.

The loan spell was enough to convince Helmond Sport to make the move permanent. Dekkers signed a contract running until June 2028, and in the 2025/26 season established himself as a regular in the side, making 15 appearances in the Eerste Divisie, scoring once and setting up another goal. He has continued in that role into the current campaign, wearing the number 20 shirt as a right-back. A senior call-up to the Netherlands national team has so far eluded him.
