About the player
Shaqueel van Persie is the son of Robin van Persie, the former Feyenoord and England forward who now coaches the club. Born in London, he holds dual Dutch and Moroccan nationality through his mother, Bouchra van Persie, but has represented the Netherlands at youth level, turning out for the U16 and U17 sides.
His route to Feyenoord ran through two other academies first. He started out at Manchester City before moving to Fenerbahçe's youth ranks when his father joined the Turkish club, then joined Feyenoord's academy. He signed his first professional contract with Feyenoord in May 2022 and extended it in January 2025 through at least 2028.
He made his senior debut for Feyenoord on 27 November 2025, coming into a Europa League match against Celtic. His first professional goals followed soon after, in January 2026, in a 4–3 Eredivisie defeat to Sparta Rotterdam.
