Teemu Hytönen

Teemu Hytönen spent nearly a decade in Ilves's academy before making his way out into senior football through the club's reserve side. Between 2020 and 2022 he was a regular for Ilves II in Finland's second tier. In August 2022 he signed for VPS in Vaasa as a free agent.

At VPS, Hytönen split his time between the senior side in Veikkausliiga, where he made over thirty appearances, and the club's farm team, VPS II. A loan spell at Närpes Kraft in 2023 gave him further minutes away from Vaasa. That same year, he finished as the top scorer among VPS Akatemia players in the third-tier Kolmonen.

His return to Ilves came in October 2024, when he agreed a two-year contract that took effect at the start of 2025. The financial terms of the move were not disclosed, unsurprising given he arrived as a free agent once his VPS deal had run its course.

Internationally, Hytönen has represented Finland at under-21 level, making his debut off the bench in September 2024 in a 2-0 win over Romania. He has since added further caps for the age-group side, though a first call-up to the senior national team has not yet followed.
