About the player
Van den Elshout joined Feyenoord's academy in 2015, at the age of eight, arriving from HVV Den Haag and working through every youth level without ever moving to another club. He signed his first professional contract with Feyenoord, reportedly running until mid-2027. His debut came on as a substitute for Jordan Lotomba in an Eredivisie match against Sparta Rotterdam, a game Feyenoord lost 3–4, and by September he had made 12 league appearances without yet scoring.
The clearest sign of where his game is heading is in the Netherlands youth setup. After a single cap for the U17s and a goal in six games for the U18s, he has scored seven goals in seven caps for the U19s. He backed that up in club football too, with five goals and an assist in 14 appearances for Feyenoord's U21 side in Division 1 Fall during the 2025/2026 season.
He was named Feyenoord's Academy Player of the Month for November 2023. There was talk of a loan move to FC Volendam in early 2026, but it never went beyond speculation.
