About the player
Rommens made his senior debut for KRC Genk in October 2021 after coming through the club's academy, which he had joined in 2012, but he managed only a single first-team appearance there while spending the following season with the reserve side, Jong Genk. His path to regular football came at KVC Westerlo, where he moved on a free transfer in July 2023 and signed a four-year contract. Across three seasons at Westerlo he made close to eighty appearances, scored once and was voted the club's Player of the Year.
Rangers signed Rommens in January 2026 for a fee that could rise to around €5 million with add-ons, with Westerlo holding a 15% sell-on clause, and handed him a three-and-a-half-year deal. He scored in a 1–0 away win against St Mirren in March 2026 and setting up a goal in a 5–2 win over Falkirk two months later. A groin injury interrupted his season in August 2026.
His only trophy to date is the 2020–21 Belgian Cup, won with Genk, though he was an unused member of the squad in the final. He was also part of the Genk side beaten by Club Brugge in the 2021 Belgian Super Cup final.
