About the player
Liu Yixin came through Guangzhou Evergrande's youth academy, a stint that included three years training in Spain as part of the club's development programme, before graduating to the Guangzhou first team. In 2019 he moved to Chongqing Liangjiang Athletic, where he was eventually included in the first-team squad for the 2022 season. That spell ended abruptly when the club dissolved in May 2022 amid financial difficulties.
He landed on his feet the same month, joining Henan FC on a free transfer on 27 May 2022 and making his debut for the club in the Chinese Super League that season. A left-back by trade despite his right foot, Liu has since become a regular fixture in Henan's defence, passing 78 appearances for the club by February 2025, including 17 appearances and 14 starts in the 2024 season, contributing three assists along the way. In February 2025, Henan announced Liu had renewed his contract through to the end of 2026.
Away from the pitch, it was reported in November 2024 that Liu had been admitted to Beijing Sport University as an outstanding athlete.
