Elbflorenz

HC Dresden collapsed financially, and on 14 February 2006 what began as SG ESV Elbflorenz took over its playing rights, later settling on the name HC Elbflorenz 2006 in October 2012.

The Mitteldeutsche Oberliga title in 2011/12 lifted the club into the 3. Liga, and winning the 3. Liga (East) in 2016/17 sent it up to the 2. Handball-Bundesliga for the first time.

Rico Göde coaches the side now known as Die Tiger, black and gold, playing out of the BallsportArena Dresden. The squad has carried a run of international handball: Christodoulos Mylonas for Greece, Doruk Pehlivan for Turkey, Mindaugas Dumčius for Lithuania, Ivar Stavast for the Netherlands, alongside Maximilian Janke, who came through with Germany honours already to his name.

Youth work has been the quieter constant. The Handball-Bundesliga awarded the club its Youth Certificate every year from 2019 to 2023 — five in a row.
