«The Yellow Ones»
Borås sits in western Sweden with one arena that matters, and until recently it belonged entirely to the men. IF Elfsborg had run girls' teams since 2015. The annual meeting in March 2019 settled that: a senior women's side, built from nothing rather than folded in from another club or revived out of an old section.
The first competitive matches came in the 2020 season, three divisions down. Joakim Karlsson took the team through those opening years; Ismet Turšić replaced him in 2023.
2024 did the moving. Elfsborg won Division 1 Mellersta, which earned promotion to Elitettan — and then went into the play-off against AIK Fotboll instead. They drew the away leg 1–1, won at home 1–0, and took the tie 2–1. That put them in Damallsvenskan for 2025.
The home ground is Borås Arena, shared with the men and holding 14,500 for football. Yellow and black are the colours, carried over from the flag of the Älvsborg Regiment. A supporters' group for the women, Gulsvarta Systrar, has been going since 2013 — six years before the team it now follows existed.
BK Häcken is the closest thing to a rival, though the distance is regional rather than local; Borås has no derby of its own. Among the squad, Emilia Bengtsson is tied to the club until 2027.
Nothing here rests on old silverware. The one honour on the board is a third-tier title from 2024, won by a team that had not existed six years earlier, in a city whose girls once had no senior side to graduate into.
