Etzella Ettelbruck

For most of the century that followed, Etzella did what clubs of that size in that country do: moved between the divisions, drew a few hundred to the ground by the dyke.

That changed in 2000–01 , when Etzella took the Luxembourg Cup — the only major trophy in the club's record. Two of the next three seasons ended with the same competition lost in the final, in 2002–03 and again in 2003–04, and a third runners-up finish followed much later, in 2018–19. Four finals, one win.

The league brought the club closer to a title than the cup ever did. Etzella finished second in the National Division in 2004–05 and again in 2006–07. It kept knocking on the door and found no answer.

In 2008 the club knocked out Lokomotiv Tbilisi to reach the second round of the Intertoto Cup .

The National Division title has never come, and neither has a run in one of the two main UEFA competitions.
