On penalties, in the 2017–18 Israel State Cup, a side from Liga Gimel, the fourth tier, went out and beat Hapoel Bnei Lod, two divisions above them, 3–2 after the shootout followed a 2–2 draw. Mohammed Salah pulled Musmus level before the end of normal time; Ameer Mahajneh settled it in extra time. No fourth-tier club had put out a second-tier one since the 1989–90 season, and the run ended in the next round against Hapoel Shfaram.
Musmus is a village in the Wadi Ara area of the Haifa District, under the Ma'ale Iron Local Council. Hapoel Bnei Musmus has spent its existence in Liga Alef and Liga Gimel, the lower rungs of the Israeli pyramid.
The team plays in red and white at HaShalom Stadium, a ground it shares with Hapoel Umm al-Fahm and Maccabi Umm al-Fahm.
No player developed at Musmus has gone on to Ligat Ha'Al or Liga Leumit football, and the club itself has never held a league title or a State Cup. What it has is the one afternoon it should not, by rank, have won.
