Jersey Bulls

There is no derby waiting for Jersey Bulls, no crosstown grudge sharpened over decades. Jersey sits outside FIFA and UEFA, so an islander with a talent for the game had nowhere serious to take it once school football ended. Russell Le Feuvre, a former PE teacher and Muratti Vase winner, built the Bulls to answer that, entering them into the English football pyramid so Jersey's better players could test themselves in the National League System and the FA Vase. Graeme Le Saux lent his name to the project at the start.

The results have come slowly but concretely. Promotion in 2021–22 followed a restructuring of the leagues below the National League, and two Vase campaigns reached the fifth round without going further. Last season carried a sting: a three-point deduction for fielding an ineligible player dropped the Bulls from first to third in the Combined Counties Premier Division South. They fought their way into the play-offs anyway, beat Cobham 2–1 on penalties after a 1–1 draw, and went up to the Isthmian League Division One South East — the club's only title of note, won on penalties rather than in the league table. Euan Van De Vliet saved three of Cobham's spot-kicks that afternoon.

Elliot Powell took over as manager in May 2024 and delivered that promotion within a year, succeeding Gary Freeman, who had run the side since its first season. Sol Solomon has scored more than any other Bull. None of it changes the original problem the club exists to solve: an island's footballers, cut off from the international game by Jersey's status, still need somewhere to play that counts for something beyond the shoreline.
