Koprivnica

The county's "big derby" pits Koprivnica against NK Graničar Đurđevac, with NK Radnik Križevci and NK Podravina Ludbreg filling out a rivalry map.

What plays at the Gradski Stadion Ivan Kušek-Apaš today is not, strictly, what started there. The original side traded names for decades — Podravska, then Željezničar, then Lokomotiva from the mid-1970s through the 1990s, when it finally settled back on NK Koprivnica. That version won the Treća HNL – North in 1999–2000 and, in green and white, went as far as the Round of 16 of the Croatian Cup in 2012–13. Financial trouble and relegation ended it in 2019, when it merged into NK Tehnika and took the field as NK Tehnika-Koprivnica before reverting to the Koprivnica name in 2021, now in black and white.

The rebuilt club has needed only a few seasons to find its own footing: a county cup in 2019–20, a Round of 16 Croatian Cup run in 2025–26 that ended against Hajduk Split, and promotion after winning the 3. NL – North the same season. Antun Marković, a goalkeeper who went on to the Croatian national team by way of Slaven Belupo, while Luka Šarlija passed through the youth system before making his name at Slaven Belupo — a club Koprivnica now shares its stadium and a cooperation agreement with.

The ground holds barely over 3,100, and for a club still just a few seasons removed from playing under someone else's name entirely.
