Kostolné Kračany

The best run Kostolné Kračany ever put together started with a team that did not yet exist as a serious outfit. For its first three and a half decades the village side treated matches as an evening out rather than a contest, and only in 1969, when Štefan Szabó, Mikuláš Szabó, Štefan Csiffári and Štefan Boráros rebuilt it around a proper squad under coach Juraj Somogyi, did the club start keeping score in earnest. A fourth-place finish in that first season in the district's fourth tier was followed, in 1973, by the club's first silverware, the District Football League title in Dunajská Streda. Four years later it took the third tier as well, and in 1980, with Vojtech Gödölle in charge, the second tier fell too, sending the team up into the Regional Championships. As a newcomer there in 1980/81 it finished third, watched by four to five hundred people at a ground that had just had evening floodlights fitted. A district championship in 1996 closed out the club's competitive high-water mark. The club was founded in 1933 by Pavol Kása and Štefan Szabó, and it still plays at the Futbalový štadión Kostolné Kračany, a 1,200-capacity ground with 500 seats in use on matchdays. There is no independent club website; what there is sits on the municipal page for the village. These days the club's business is the Slovnaft Cup rather than the league table. It beat FC Nový Život 2-0 in the second round in both 2023/24 and 2024/25, Ladislav Nagy scoring on both occasions, and added a first-round win over Slovan Galanta in July 2024. In 2025/26 it went a round further, past TJ Gabčíkovo into the third round, before running into local rival FC Jelka, who went through on penalties after a goalless draw.
