Nové Zámky

FKM Nové Zámky sit in the West division of the Slovak third tier, a level the club has settled into after slipping down through the divisions since the country's top flight moved on without it. There is no Super Liga football here now, and no Slovak Cup run to speak of, but the club still turns out every weekend at Štadión Ladislava Gancznera, a 3,500-capacity ground that has seen the town's football under half a dozen different names.

That naming history says as much about the town as about the club. Founded in 1907 as Érsekújvári SE, under the Hungarian name the settlement carried at the time, the side was renamed Érsekújvári SE-Cikta in 1941 and MOVE Érsekújvári SE two years later, before the post-war reorganisation turned it into TJ Slovan Nové Zámky. A further rebrand as TJ Elektrosvit Nové Zámky followed under socialist-era sponsorship, and only after the Velvet Revolution did the club settle on FKM, the name it has carried since.

The closest thing to a rivalry runs through the Nitra Region rather than through any single named derby: matches against FK Slovan Levice and FK Slovan Duslo Šaľa are billed locally as krajské derby, regional derbies played with more needle than the league table suggests. FKM's own table history has one brief high point, a season in the Slovak second division around 1999–2000, since which the club has stayed in the lower tiers.

Martin Košťál wore the shirt through the 2023–2024 season, a midfielder who had already been through Spartak Trnava and spells abroad in Poland and the Czech Republic before he moved on again to FC ViOn Zlaté Moravce. In dark blue and white, that is the level FKM plays at: not the club he stayed at, but one that has kept sending its players onward.
