Odra Opole

Odra Opole measure themselves against Śląsk Wrocław, and the two sides have carried the label Derby Dolnego Śląska into every meeting since — the oldest and sharpest rivalry in the region, one that has spilled over into trouble among supporters more than once. The fixture went quiet for years while the clubs sat apart in the pyramid, then returned in 2025 with both back in the First League.

The club traces itself to 16 June 1945, when it was registered as Opolski Klub Sportowy Odra. It did not keep one name or one shape for long: a merger with KS Chrobry Groszowice and Lwowianka Opole turned it into Budowlani Opole for close to a decade, and later spells paired it first with Warta and then with Unia under joint banners. The lowest point came in 2009, when bankruptcy forced the club to fold; it was rebuilt as Oderka and only took back the Odra Opole name in 2011.

Its one major honour dates from 1977, a 3-1 win over Widzew in the final of the Polish League Cup, a result that sent Odra into the UEFA Cup the following season. Domestically the club has never lifted the Polish Cup, reaching the semi-final five times and finishing third once, in 1961/62; in the league its best finish came in 1963/64, third place in the top flight.

Engelbert Jarek is the name still attached to the club's scoring record, 456 goals across his time there, enough to earn him a place in the Poland national side as well.

Home games are played in blue, in front of a support known as the Niebiesko-Czerwoni, at the Itaka Arena — a ground that only opened in its current form in March 2025, holding 11,600 in Opole.
