«Tartalo»
Tartalo has no rival in its own city, and that was a choice. The other ice hockey club in Vitoria-Gasteiz is Club Hielo Bipolo, the historic one, and Tartalo works alongside it. The two share the rink at the Bakh sports complex, which holds 700 spectators. They also share coaches: Adam Wronka works with the men and Jon Martín with the women.
The name comes from Basque mythology. Tartalo is a one-eyed giant, close kin to the Greek Cyclops, and the club took it to suggest strength.
The women went first. The senior women's team entered the Liga Iberdrola in the 2024–2025 season, the same season the club was founded in 2024. The men joined the Liga Nacional de Hockey Hielo for 2025–2026. Henri Castleberry is among the women's players. The club has no major honours yet and has existed for only a short time.
Behind it are President Francisco Javier "Javi" Sande, Secretary Blanca De Pablo and Treasurer Fernando Sáez de Maturana.
Tartalo was set up so that they could stay in the city.
