Yadanarbon

Yadanarbon joined as a founding member of the Myanmar National League and took the inaugural title in its first season, then repeated in 2010, 2014 and 2016, though later appearances in the AFC Cup and the AFC Champions League never got past the group stage.

The name carried Mandalay's identity into the dressing room as well: the nickname "The Boxing Cakes" comes straight from htote mone, the steamed rice cake associated with the city, worn in the club's yellow and black.

The club's fiercest fixture is against Yangon United, the so-called Super Myanmar derby that pits the country's two largest cities against each other. Yadanarbon had the upper hand through the early 2010s before Yangon United took over from 2011 to 2015.

Aung Thu came through the Mandalay Football Academy and became the player most associated with that era, scoring 34 goals in 131 appearances between 2013 and 2020 and taking the league's Player of the Year award three years running, in 2015, 2016 and 2017.

Sai Sam Tun stayed in charge for sixteen years before retiring in early 2026, handing the club to new owners who are now working out how to rebuild it for the 2026–27 season.
